  FOUR YEARS BETWEEN VISITS AND THIS SMALL TOWN JEWEL, MAXIME’S, STILL COOKS…LITERALLY!
  
  First, you really have to want to find this restaurant sitting on the North Carolina – South Carolina line in Tabor City, which is not a destination, but a pass through town for travelers to Myrtle Beach. But if you don’t stop you’ll miss some great Italian and Greek foods.
  
  The traditional gyro with its beef and lamb mix and a very special Tzatziki sauce is every bit as good as it was the first time I tasted it about four years ago. And the French fries, oh! I am amazed at what Amalia and Jimmy Yacoumis can do with a potato! Getting food seems to take a while, but that's because everything's prepared fresh.
  
  Maxime’s got its name as the Yacoumis’ and some friends were trying to come up with a sort of international name and the friend yelled, “What, are you trying to be continental like Maxime’s?” And the name was born. It’s not continental and doesn’t need to be, but when you step in the door customers and staff actually speak, as everybody seems to know everybody.
  
  Pizzas and so much more are served to a busy sit-down crowd, while the take out chairs are lined with starving customers hungry for the special Yacoumis touch to their food. Jimmy greets customers and personally checks that everyone likes what they ordered, and he means it! He and Amalia have been running Maxime’s in Tabor City for 20 and a half years.
  I liked it because I got feted by a real restauranteur of Greek descent without having to wear a tux!

  Very very good pizza!! I love there Greek salad and dressing. A little pricey but is so good! Subs are also amazing!!

  I worked here years ago, it is a great place food is amazing, staff is awesome, friendly and yes the wait nay be a little long sometimes but they are making the most amazing food for you with all the care in the world!!!!
